A website I designed - www.netscafe.info
03.31.04 (10:48 pm) [edit]
Today, I designed a website for the cybercafe from where I often connect to the internet, Netscafe.. You can view the website here. I took me sometime to complete.. Parts of the website are still incomplete, but I had to upload it since the guy wanted to start a new financial year tomorrow.. So I had to upload it giving last minute touches..
Do give your views on it, thanx! I am also planning to incorporate more modules into the design to check the balance hours for prepaid cards and the like.
My internals starts tomorrow.. Got a splitting headache from staring at the computer screen all afternoon.. Tomorrow's English.. Grammar and stuff.. and french the day after.. I got a surprise for my cousin Rajesh... wont let you know yet!
Cya for now...
PS:- WARNING : Tomorrow is April Fools Day!!

Last day in college!
03.30.04 (9:21 pm) [edit]
Tomorrow is the last day that the college functions normally in this semester. The day after, my internals start.. Next year, I'll be a second yearer.. *yearer???*
Internal exams suck.. But you gotta learn something! Thats the reason you go to college.. The class was thinly attended.. My blogs are getting smaller and smaller as the days proceed...
My cousin, Rajesh made a really good website, its still to be launched... its in the testing stage.. about nilgiris... Click here to view it... He has really done a lot of homework in this regard... He has worked for over two years collecting data... now the site is under testing... Please see it and give your comments.. Thank you!

Rains at last and I am so happy!! :))
03.29.04 (5:26 pm) [edit]
The rain god has given us a visit at last... It rained in most of the places here in Coimbatore giving respite from the heat that has been around for a few weeks now.. But sadly... My place did not receive any :( All the surrounding places EXCEPT my place received thier quota of showers!! But atleast THEY did!
Really very happy.. I really dont know why, I feel really elated when it rains, maybe everybody does the same way... Maybe it is because of the weather.. I dont know.. But I like the wetness... The trees all appear fresh! The sky looks a lot bluer the next day! The air feels fresh.. leaves you feeling good.. I like the smell of rain and I can get a whiff now.. hope it rains now..
Yahoo weather says 60% chance of rain at Peelamedu which is barely 3km from my place.. that is the only place where they update the weather here at Coimbatore... Click here to view the weather from Yahoo.com
The wind too is amazing.. cool and fresh..I can smell it... raining somewhere nearby... I am still waiting rain...

Screwed the lab exam today :(
03.26.04 (9:11 pm) [edit]
What a surprise it was in the lab exam today.. Actually what was supposed to have taken place was, the paper would consist of two questions. Writing the algorithms alone would fetch most of the marks... So, I guessed some programs that wont bunch up together and scrapped them from my study list! :D
But, guess what, the tutor decided to give only ONE program today and that was one that I did not have a peep too... Had a lot of fun writing something for the sake of the exam... I wrote 132 lines of code that had no effect whatsoever.. The result was jinxed up to show the answer.. But the staff on seeing the program said that it was good.. but I made the result to come out wrong, so I wouldnt arouse any suspicion..
He said that I must have made a mistake in my logic... *lol*
Must wait to see how much I score...

Programming exam tomorrow!
03.25.04 (7:25 pm) [edit]
Firstly, I would like to thank everybody for spending time on my blog and giving thier views.. both in public and private. Thank you everybody!
Tomorrow, I got my lab internals... this would be the last one before I face the music big time... C programming.. My tutor is the laziest as I have pointed out in previous blogs.. I dont know the syntax of many keywords.. I scraped thru it last time.. This time.. must try atleast.. Nothing is too tough for the human mind..
Day before, there was an issue at the electricity sub-station.. Some junkie took the 'key' that is used to turn-off and turn-on the current, switched off the current at around 4PM and left.. according to locals here.. it was 11PM by the time they found the absentminded worker and restored power! Boy was I mad... no power in summer! ':(
Made many new friends here on tblog, AJM Dieringer, Kamikaze to name a few..
The weather report on yahoo.com said rain probably.. and it was very cloudy all evening and also a cold wind began to blow... I happily expected rain... :D
But the clouds dissappeared and the warmth descended over the city again like a blanket, but in the middle of summer.. Thunderstorms predicted in the days ahead.. But that has been done on a regular basis.. You fly over our city and there wont be any trouble spotting you! No clouds whatsoever!
Got class next saturday too.. Aarrrgghhh!! Hope I do my programming well... 'C' ya!

Look before you leap!
03.22.04 (8:44 pm) [edit]
I have learned a very valuable lesson thru the course of my life. Never say anything important without giving a good thought to it. There have been many cases of me, promising of doing favours asked, but never completing them as I would be too busy or just plain forgetful.
In the end, these people think that it was wrong to have asked me.. but that is not the problem here. I could have given a thought about the reason that they had approached me.. the importance that they gave to me... but I just took the easy way out... Damn I forget quickly...
So, instead of speaking and then having the foot in the mouth... it would be a lot better if I just gave a good thought to it.. the implications that it had.. whether I would be able to help... Also the other side too... thier need... whether it was urgent...
Also arguing ... we may be wrong at certain times too... without knowing it! Worser still is volunteering[/b ] to do something.. :? and not doing it.. :( Thats my greatest mistake.. I wrongly jump into things like someone who is confident of accomplishing the task only to repent later... It would have been wiser than being the wise guy these times around...
I am planning to turn on a new leaf... thinking well before I open my mouth to test my vocabulary... but the success, only my mouth can tell...

Mount Pleasant - Not so pleasant
03.21.04 (9:09 pm) [edit]
Today, Left early in the morning to my mother's place - Mount Pleasant near Coonoor (Nilgiris). I expected the climate to be chilly... but *ulp*... it was hot there too! But not as hot as what it would be back here in Coimbatore (Today's high - 36* C).
Stayed there.. met a few uncles and aunts... Met a nephew aged about 4, named somesh.. Boy was he hilarious... Stayed there till late evening and left thereafter... A huge traffic jam as they were apparently blasting rocks to create a more wider highway...
Reached here at 9:00 PM... Really dead tired... I wanted to type in just this blog *Must use powers*....

My maths tutor succumbs to blood cancer
03.19.04 (9:51 pm) [edit]
Today, my maths tutor from last semester expired due to blood cancer around 5pm today... My friend had gone to his place to get some info on an arrear that he had when he found out that he had expired.. he went out to call the doctor but he pronounced him dead on arrival.
I informed the college only sometime back over the phone... they thought that I was playing a prank.... but I managed to convince them...

| Holiday! :) :| :( |
03.18.04 (9:37 pm) [edit]
Today was my college's 25th annivery of becoming an 'Autonomous' College and it was a day off! Yipee! But I felt sorta sick. My throat hurt and I had this splitting headache. Went to sleep again and woke up at 1:00 PM... Then went to pay my mobile bill.. all my savings gone now... Those $^#$%@#$ blocked my outgoing and I had to make the payment to unblock my phone...
There's a lecturer from GRD College, a college near me... he wants a presentation to showcase in his college done by ME, a student of PSGCAS! Thats good! Its about the prospects that 'Visual Communication' can do to this city... will host it once complete.. I am planning to register the domain for the gold bullion company tomorrow... Will give the link once it is complete for your comments on its design :)
Until then.. ciao..

My day at college... All alone...
03.17.04 (8:57 pm) [edit]
Missed the college bus again today... I could have made it easily to college by catching an alternate bus.. but my friend, anvar called up and said that he would give me a drop to my college. He came at 8:55 AM. For the ignorant, my college starts at 9:00 AM and it is 12 kms away AND it was rush hour! We made it only at 9:15 AM. My friend went to attend his class as his teacher was more kind hearted :p I couldnt do the same as it was my class tutor's hour and damn she screams in private. :x
I figured that there would be some of my classmates in the canteen.. but I was wrong... Then I left for the library and browsed sometime there... Second hour, I planned on attending classes... but fate proved otherwise as I struck a conversation with another friend and bunked the class again.. and to my horror, after a few minutes.. that guy left for home... Alone again... Some of the most horrible moments that I have spent in this college...
My friends came out during the recess and thats when I realised how much they meant to me... And was glad to be with them... the hour after recess was free.. went out, had lunch... and I left for home.. feeling sick... Here I am, blogging... feeling a lot better now :)

Starry eyed surprise!
03.16.04 (7:36 pm) [edit]
Went to my friend's birthday party on sunday eve on the outskirts of the city near a place called Neelambur. The sky was clear and not a cloud for miles... All the stars were clearer than ever and looked very cool.
Was exclaiming about it to my friend when I saw a really big shooting 'star'... made a wish... hope it shows up! My friend reached 26 yrs of age. He was my college senior actually...
Tried blogging on sunday.. but tblog blogged me down this time around...
Today college dragged along a lot... the gold bullion site is nearing completion and i hope it will be on the net soon...
I made some new friends in college today... Aw.. i make them every day :) and one of them asked me whether I smoked. The reason he quoted was that my lips were a bit dark... Whoa... hold it! I dont smoke and dont plan to either... The reason my lips are a bit dark is that they dry too quickly even if I apply petroleum jelly on them...
I remembered the reason that I painted the painting... I was loitering about with my paint kit in my friend's place to decorate a kite... way back in 1999.. My friend's mother joked that I could never do anything proper with a brush let alone paint a picture of any sort.. The reason she said it was I had taken a sheet of paper and painted it orange since I wanted an orange kite and the paper was over... I thought that the best thing to do with that was to draw a silhoutte of something and thats what I did... Then when I showed it to her, she said that looked great and that she had only made fun of me... She also told me some months later that she was diagnosed with cancer.
I stayed with her as long as I could. In hospitals... her house... The doc said that she was going down... Then it happened, two years back... on my friend's birthday, April 21st... she left all of us... I was so choked that I refused to go to the funeral.. i couldnt accept it... Now I have oversome the grief... Stayed in touch with my friend for sometime.. Now i speak to him occasionally.. Too good memories... I really hate cancer..

A painting I did long long ago...
03.13.04 (4:54 pm) [edit]
Today, I was watching the historic cricket match between India and Pakistan who were touring the latter's country after a gap of nearly 15 years. I decided to add a blog... I remembered that my blog would have gotten listed in Google by now and deciding to find out, I typed "Thiyagaraj" in Google.com and searched.
Not surprisingly, I found my blog listed in the results, but something else caught my eye too.. A painting that I had submitted to a national newspaper was listed too!
I had painted the painting when I was in the 9th standard I presume... during the height of the Kargil war between India and Pakistan. I still dont remember what inspired me to do the same... But I completed the painting and it was lying in my house for a very long time. Then when I was in my last year at high school (2003), my friend said that I could give him some articles which would be featured in a fortnightly supplement along with the paper.
I gave him a copy of the painting and it was featured on July 14th 2003 after I had joined my College.. I received a copy of the paper and soon forgot about it until today...
The image is here :
Medium used : Water Colours on Paper.
The article in the newspaper can be found here.
I am trying to remember why I painted it :?:
[edit] India won the cricket match in a thrilling finale.

Email stole my handwriting :(
03.12.04 (6:40 pm) [edit]
Today, I had just stepped outside my house in the evening when I saw our postman... I was seeing him after nearly two years and he appeared a lot older now.. his hair had greyed and he held out a letter addressed to my father.
It reminded me of the time when I used to receive snail mail on a regular basis and how individualistic it used to be... each friend used to decorate thier letters using thier imagination... I used to reply personally to each one of them... then... it stopped happening... I got lesser and lesser of the mail... Email replaced it one by one until all the mail that I received was in the E-format... Jpegs and Gifs replaced the drawings... plain text replaced the stylized handwritings... The anticipation when waiting for a reply disappeared as email was much more immediate...
and worst of all, it made my friend, the postman a distant memory...
Now the only snail mail I used to receive was my mobile bill.. and a few days back, incidentally, I received an email from my Service provider saying that all bills would be in the E-format unless a written request was submitted!

My Class Tutor's Goodwill gesture (whatever)
03.10.04 (8:30 pm) [edit]
We had to work an extra hour in college today! :( But it was for a good cause.. I had approached my class tutor, Menaka eons ago asking her to explain the linked list program in C. Actually what i wanted her to do was explain the syntax as the logic was already understood by most of my classmates. I had asked a lot of fellow classmates whether they understood the program and 81% of them said no.
So I asked her to explain it to us.. This was a month ago. Today all of a sudden she remembered the request and asked all of us to work an extra hour. Though i still have issues regarding the syntax.. atleat she did her part... surprising if you get to see how lazy she is,was and will be...
A politician is due to visit the city for his election campaign. I get grim memories when I think of it. It was the last time that he was here,in 1998 when coimbatore experienced the serial bomb blasts, 13 in total and more than 300 lives were lost.
Tomorrow is Executrix '04 and the first years had erected an enormous banner just like we did, but ours was one-fourth of thiers. But lo! The police came and asked us to dismantle it as the politician is due to visit tomorrow. Whats' a banner gonna do? You tell me! Now the banner is cooling its frame inside the college campus.
There was a small scuffle with the second years though i do not wish to elaborate more on it here.
All evening I was working on the website of the gold bullion company that I was talking about. The guy wanted Green and Yellow as the basic colours and i just cant seem to figure out a proper layout for the same. Think that it'll work out just fine! Will give you the URL when i complete it.
See ya!

I had written the address on a photocopy and they took copies out of it and thus free advertising! anyway got to go know... its the interval and there are still 4 hrs left in college for me...

A boring day..
03.08.04 (9:47 pm) [edit]
Yesterday, I went to visit my uncle who underwent a successful operation to remove a 1cm stone from his kidney. He was doing ok and my whole time was spent there.
Around 7:00PM, I went alongwith my cousins (Ramesh and Ramesh:2) to a place to collect drinking water. Drinking water facility is yet to be supplied in my aunt's place... There is a place some 4km by the side of mettupalayam road where you can get all the drinking water you need. We went by car carrying four huge containers and got our water ready. Then we had a hearty dinner and left to help Ramesh:2 to board his bus to bangalore.
Then ramesh:1 dropped me at my house.
Today was uneventful... Attended classes the brain dead way... CSA asked questions and i answered them nonetheless :P surprising... My friend lost his record.. All the banners that were erected for Euphoria were pulled down... I am designing a website for a gold bullion company... it would be very good if they gave me only 4 gold bars as a return gift... i would live lavishly afterwards...
*pinches himself to find that he is awake*
But that wont be happening, but I owe Prasad some money from the bangalore trip and I hope that i'll be able to make both ends meet... SilentFear gave me a sound file that i was searching for a long time... SpongeBob's theme that plays in the end... She was really helpful.. thanx Silent...
Towards conquering my night-mares... off i leave...

Euphoria '04 *Final*
03.06.04 (10:12 pm) [edit]
Today was Euphoria '04 right from the morning. It was fun the whole day but i left early in the evening coz all my friends left and it was dragging along a bit.
My friend Gaudham met with an accident 10 mins back. Some others have gone to help him. He was riding his Yamaha near his sister's place when some buffoons tightened a rope across the street and this guy rode thru it. It stopped him leaving the bike alone on its journey. He had a huge cut and his left eye was a mess. He's gone to the Eye Foundation - A hospital near DB Road at 10.PM Apparantly, he's fine.. Watched Pogo in the evening. Browsing all night.. listening to Bryan Adam's 18 till I die....

Banner Blues - Euphoria '04 contd...
03.05.04 (8:12 pm) [edit]
Finally our guys sat down to raise the banner sponsored by our department for our college function Euphoria '04 which takes place tomorrow. Our guys picked up a place near the college bus stand and started erecting the frame that would support the banner.
Thats when a highway patrol car came by and a policeman got off the vehicle and commanded us to remove the frame. He told us that the bus drivers had complained the previous day that some of the other posters already erected by students of other departments were disturbing thier driving (whatever) and hence he asked us to place the new one closer to any one of the already installed banners.
It was a plain headache and what was supposed to take place at 7.00 PM took 11:30 to get completed... Everybody was too flabbergasted to speak too... :x
Came home, watched pogo for sometime and slept soundly... Today we were asked to volunteer to help the guys out during the function (students from all over south india are expected to attend it). I politely refused fully knowing the commitments that i would have to undergo if i volunteered to...
The poster was a huge LET-DOWN... it resembled a chess board with red text on it proclaiming "Euphoria '04" and "Born to rule the rulers!" as the tagline. The main reason for going for 'Flexiprint' was to get the photo quality print on the banner and in the end, these guys print a chessboard and call it a banner
I did not exclaim my feelings downright there hoping not to hurt anybody personally... but since not too many people know that i have relocated my blog.. i am safe... No hard feelings if you are someone personally related to me from college...
Really displeased...
Hope tomorrow will hold a lot of surprise... Cinestars are supposed to visit the function... there's a lot of security too.. coz 'gang-wars' are not an uncommon sight during these time... thank you Silent Fear for your wishes!
*sulking* Bye...

College Secretary
03.03.04 (10:17 pm) [edit]
My friend vetrivel is planning to stand in the upcoming elections for the college secretary. They have also purchased a banner for Rs.13,000 to display for the forthcoming Euphoria function. Thats a whole lot of money... i feel its wasted, but we need the banner too, to proclaim that our department too can do things....
Was sneezing the whole day from the cold that i had... it seems to like me, for it has still not waved goodbye...
Tomorrow is my friend Jarnitha's house warming ceremony... remembered it only now and i dont think that i'll be able to make it tomorrow... its early in the morning that they do these poojas and stuff...
Went to the library for the first time in eight months and borrowed two books : "E-business (R)Evolution" and "Photoshop 7 Savvy" Hope it serves its purpose... The organisation of the books in the library alongwith the computerised terminal was damning... i had actually gone in search of any book on ASP, but couldnt find any even though the computer proclaimed that it was available.. :x Silly programmers...
Lab was equally boring as always...
Sleepy.... XOXO

18 till I die...
03.02.04 (9:39 pm) [edit]
It was my birthday today and i had a good time.. I would like to thank all of my friends for remembering my birthday and sending me your heartfelt wishes... I am 18 now... That means that i am a major and i can act on my own now!! I can even get my driver's license and a lot  of other permissions....
I was woken up early morning by my pal from high school, Jayanth.. he's the guy who always wakes me up when it is my birthday! I was really very happy... College went on just fine.... but sweet memories from school can never be forgotten... I met a few of my old pals.. it isnt good to be in a new place without any of your old pals...
Even after 8 months at college... I have still got this empty feeling...
18 TILL I DIE (BRYAN ADAMS)
Wanna be young the rest of my life, Never say no, try anything twice When the angels come and ask me to fly, Gonna be 18 till I die - 18 till I die
Can't live forever, that's wishful thinkin', Whoever said that must of been drinkin' Don't wanna grow up, I don't see why, I couldn't care less if time flies by 18 till I die, gonna be 18 till I die Ya, it sure feels good to be alive, Someday I'll be 18 goin' on 55! 18 till I die
Anyway, I just wanna say Why bother with what happened yesterday, It's not my style, I live for the minute, If ya wanna stay young, get both feet in it 18 till I die A little bit of this, a little bit of that, Little bit of everything, gotta get on track It's not how you look, it's what ya feel inside, I don't care when, I don't need to know why 18 till I die, gonna be 18 till I die Ya, it sure feels good to be alive, Someday I'll be 18 goin' on 55! 18 till I die Ya, there's one thing for sure, I'm sure gonna try
Don't worry 'bout the future - forget about the past, Gonna have a ball, ya, we're gonna have a blast, Gonna make it at last - 18 till I die

Trip to Bangalore
03.01.04 (10:14 pm) [edit]
Our trip to bangalore was a damp squib... The guy who was supposed to know everything was a first timer himself! He's the one called Prasad. We had a good time though, did a lot of shopping and travel..
DAY 0 :
We took our train around 14:00 hrs - The Intercity as it is called here. We had a good time on the train and played cards all along the way... The whole journey was good and the weather pleasant. I was really moved when i saw the spate of the lands some miles from Tiruchengode, Some places including Dharmapuri were so dry and barren... i have heard that we were facing a drought for the past year or two, but like i say... seeing is believing... There was a dam that was actually dry... Only the wall remained and not a speck of #00FF00 in sight... that is hexa for green...
Then it grew dark and we could only spot lights here and there... We lodged ourselves in a hotel called Anand Vihar at Kalasipalayam and retired for the night...
DAY 1:
Went to Lal Bagh, M.G. Road, Brigade Road (nice chicks  ) and a lot of other places...
DAY 2:
The parliament house, Head post office, Shiva Temple, Kemp Fort, Shivaji Nagar, Commercial Street (things real cheap), National Market (lotsa shopping) and a hell lotta other places... We spent the whole night upto 2:00 AM of day three at Brigade road...
DAY 3:
Reached the station around 3:00 AM, but our train was only around 6:00, so spent the time in a restaurant... drinking coffee to keep us awake...
One of the most damning journey that i have ever taken by train... it was really tiring considering the fact that we did not have a wink the previous night... I vowed never to return from bangalore again during the day that too by a train...
2:00 PM, Home sweet home... :!:
