Google Results for "Thiyagaraj"
05.04.05 (12:54 pm)   [edit]
A quick search for the term "Thiyagaraj" on Google usually listed this blog as the first result, but from today, My site, www.thiya.net happens to be the first result! Edged out! Though that site isnt listed anywhere with the keyword 'Thiyagaraj'! Hmmm... Now my blog's a quick second! :D

A low-cost alternative to Satellites???
04.13.05 (7:15 pm)   [edit]
Wisconsin based communications company Sanswire has unvieled its almost completed unmanned airship designed to fly in the Stratosphere and send broadband and mobile signals back to earth.

They are expected to replace land based towers which were not very effective in mountainous areas. These airships can be at reach almost in any place in its intended area of coverage since it is at a high location and strategically placed. They are a lot less costlier than satellites around $25 - $30 million according to its manufacturer.

They call it the Stratellite and its makers say that it would render the land based mobile towers obsolete! They also run on solar power making it environment friendly I guess!

But with a lot of space junk flying around and with this 'Stratellite' flying at such a height, around 30km from the ground.. I wonder what would happen in case of a glitch.. Will the entire mobile system be brought down??? Only time can tell.. 8)

Something worthwhile to read

A very good message which we need to remember through out our life....
A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a Rs. 500/- Note. In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this 500 note?" Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this note to one of you but first let me do this.". He proceeded to crumple the dollar bill up. He then asked, "Who still wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air. "Well," he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty. "Now who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air. "My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth Rs. 500/-.Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. You are special - Don't ever forget it! Never let yesterday's disappointments overshadow tomorrow's dreams"

Google answers back. 2GB and counting!! for Gmail!!
04.02.05 (12:46 pm)   [edit]
Gmail has upgraded the free email space for its users to 2GB as a celebration of its first birthday! And counting more as they are giving as much space as they could possibly can!!!

Is this an answer to Yahoo!'s plan of giving 1GB to its free users???

First the chocolate wars, then the cola wars, then the browser wars.. and now the email wars!!

:D

Occasionally, visitors are shown this image on the home page!

Yahoo's answer to Gmail's 1GB
03.29.05 (8:40 pm)   [edit]
At last Yahoo is all set to face google with its plan to give 1GB of Email space to all its free users.

They have promised to give the service to all its users by early may. The added features include so called "Virus Cleaning" which cleans the viruses(if any) present in any inbound mail (but with a tag line that reads that all viruses may not be detected).

Also with enhanced search capabilities. Now Yahoo users who might have felt left out with lesser storage space are in for a pleasant surprise.

If things go on like this, we may end up getting all online services for free! But who's complaining anyway??

Lazy me!
03.24.05 (3:50 pm)   [edit]
Hello folks!
Its been quite awhile since I posted anything. A Lot of things have been happening around me lately... My internals are just around the corner followed by the semesters.. but nothing great about them to blog about.

The Burnishing Tools site that I was designing is finally online. You can find it here - Burnishing Tools.

Some more projects remain outstanding.. More domain names that were registered, but werent used are rapidly dissappearing.. no funds to pay for them.. Not using them anyways.. so not much of a difference.. Am waiting to purchase myself a new computer.. so that I can get to design my own website (Thiyagaraj) as soon as possible.

If you have the time, please comment and let me know what are the details that one should have on his personal website.. like 'profile', 'contact info', 'photos' , 'blog', 'favourites' etc. Anything that might be interesting.. I trust you guys!

Until laters..
Happy times ahead!

Internal Exams!
02.06.05 (1:23 pm)   [edit]
Currently my internal exams are going on! My cousin had a few problems receiving payment for a website that he did. For over four months, he was requesting the payment to be made. The client was least bothered. So we blocked the site and the payment came almost immediately.. ;)

My site, thiya.NET is long since waiting completion.. I am planning to buy a new system.. After that, hopefully, my site will be done and hosted... currently thinking on some good design... Must get something creative.. But I am undergoing a phase of creative burnout... hmmm...

Until laters... :?

Its been a while!
01.30.05 (12:57 pm)   [edit]

Thiyagaraj's JottingsIts been quite a while since I have updated my blog. I have been working quite a lot lately.. It wasnt that I did not have the time to update my blog. I was just plain lazy. For all you people who might have come here in search of finding something interesting and finding nothing new,My sincere apologies.

I have been working for my department function -- Gateway '05-- , which went smoothly. For more info, go to Gateway '05

I also did a multimedia presentation for an Event, QuizTrac, conducted by the Rotoract Club of PSGCAS. It was heart warming when they acknowledged the same onstage and recognised me too... :)

Other than that, I was just plain busy, neglecting my blog.. letting it die and pushing of people who might have come here, expecting something of interest. I feel bad!

Hope I find something interesting to write, to keep my visitors who appreciate my writing, instead of just fading into the vast space called the internet.. instead of being just another static page in the mass of pages... Thanks for your support all along!!

Back to normal!!!

Taj Mahal open for night visits after two decades
11.30.04 (3:26 pm)   [edit]
The Taj Mahal has been thrown open to the public in the night after nearly two decades. It was closed for night viewing in the year 1984 due to fears of attacks by militant sikhs who were against the government for securing the independence of the northern punjab state.

Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan commissioned the Taj Mahal to memorialise his wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died from complications arising from the birth of their fourteenth child. The monument, which took more than 20,000 labourers and 22 years to complete, from 1632 to 1654, marked its 350th anniversary earlier this year.

Must visit this breathtaking monument!

Now what is that supposed to mean???
11.10.04 (9:23 am)   [edit]
A search on the term "Sad love story" on Askjeeves.com (Click here) throws up my blog in the results.. Hey come on.. now tell me what is that supposed to mean????

I got to know about this by going through my blog statistics.
:?

Is Gmail feeling the pinch??
11.10.04 (9:08 am)   [edit]
I had some trouble accessing my gmail account. It said something like the service is currently unavailable, please try again after sometime and something like we are working on it. It happened quite too often the last couple of days.

Has the userbase peaked even before it has been made public??

WHATEVER HAPPENS, HAPPENS FOR A REASON.
10.31.04 (12:39 pm)   [edit]
Received through email from Lourdu Xavier via the Carmel Garden Groups.

Its a good touchy message.

It does make sense and we should take the time every day to do what it says.
Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.

And I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell.

And he rang mine if, we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.

"Tomorrow" I say! "I will call on Jim"
"Just to show that I'm thinking of him."
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.

Around the corner! yet miles away,
"Here's a telegram sir" "Jim died today."
And that's what we get and deserve in the end.
Around the corner, a vanished friend.
Remember to always say what you mean.
Don't be afraid to express yourself.

Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you. Because when you decide that it is the right time it might be too late.

Seize the day. Never have regrets. And most importantly, stay close to your friends and family, for they have helped make you the person that you are today.

The Road not taken - Robert Frost
09.29.04 (11:10 pm)   [edit]

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I...
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
--Robert Frost--

The Road to Success
09.17.04 (2:00 pm)   [edit]
From my friend Rajshekar through IM.

The road to success is not straight.
There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, you will make it to a place called Success.

Go ahead, live your dreams!

Environmental Science Trip
09.05.04 (12:59 pm)   [edit]
We went on a one day trip to the Indira Gandhi National Park as part of our environmental awareness program. The trip was very entertaining and we had a hell of a time.. We saw two dams including the Parambikulam - Aliyar dam project.

The view was breathtaking from the bottom. Ate a hearty lunch, played with some monkeys.. saw deer, elephants, wild boars, snakes etc. Came back around 7 PM just as we were instructed to by the principal.

Hoping to go on a second trip to see an effluent treatment plant at Tirupur.

My exams are over now and I cleared all of them. Registered my domain thiya.net - though it redirects again to this blog.. planning to build it soon..

Will keep ya all updated! :)

The subjects this time around are:

- Programming in C++

The microprocessor thing sucks.. interesting nonethless...
Gotta go and search for something entertaining.. Hard week ahead.. Byes...

Reach out
08.12.04 (9:46 pm)   [edit]
I want to reach out now.. but it seems like I am on the moon and all the others are down here...

Feels frustrating.. Aloof and lonely.. bored.. I need to spend more time with my friends instead of surfing.. The Gap expands.. It only comes to my notice when there is a problem with the internet.. then I get to feel the amount of time that I am not spending with my pals... but the damage may be already done.. who knows..

Lets hope for the best...

No more troubles.
08.09.04 (7:50 pm)   [edit]
It was run over by somebody when it was on its way to my house. Just two blocks away.

Words cant explain.,

My cat - Troubles
08.07.04 (6:34 pm)   [edit]
I found this kitten lying in the middle of the road yesterday.. in the rain.. all wet and shivering.. My parents dont allow me to keep a cat in the house as my sister has breathing problems... But since all of
them had gone to a temple... I took it to my house, boiled some milk and made it to drink.. it refused to.. it even scratched me..

My parents came home and told me to leave it some place.. but it was raining.. Actually I wanted to gift it as a birthday gift to my sister.. her birthday is today.. but I completely forgot about her respiratory problem.. it was trying to get inside the house.. but a NO is a NO according to my dad and it had to leave...

I had tears in my eyes as I slept.. coz i wanted to give it to my sister.. i never told her of my plans but it sort of shattered me.. Morning, my sister woke me up with the cat in her hands.. my dad had left for work and she brought it inside.. she had even named it 'troubles'.. but she told me that it had to go..

I took it to a neighbourhood not far from my house and left it there... it had to leave.. it was old enough.. I am old enough to understand..
